Overview

Located on the scenic Potomac shore near the Loudoun-Fairfax County line, Algonkian Regional Park is the perfect place for an afternoon of fun in the sun, a family vacation or even your wedding. The park includes Downpour! (a large swimming and aquatics play complex), a par-72 golf course, miniature golf, trails, a boat launch, picnic shelters, vacation cottages, and a versatile meeting center.

Activities

  • Boating

    Come paddle the upper reaches of the scenic Potomac River. Paddle among the is- lands that are stretched out on this beautiful section of the river. Learn about the natural world that surrounds you on the tours that are lead by the park authorities staff naturalist. Call 703-450-4655 for reservations (required). Private tours are available upon request. *Indicates tours led by our park naturalist! Cost: $30 per person

  • Camping

    Algonkian Regional Parks hosts a number of hiking trails.

    The park includes Downpour! (a large waterpark complex).

Seasonality/Weather

Spring and fall are generally comfortable with precipitation possible. Summers can be hot and humid with average temperatures in the high 80s and with sudden thunderstorms possible. July and August are the hottest months.

Winters can be cold with average temperatures in the winter of 41 degrees with variable precipitation.

From the Capital Beltway (I-495), take Route 7 west 11 miles to Cascades Parkway north, and drive 3 miles to the park entrance.
