Western National Parks Association was founded in 1938 to aid and promote the educational and scientific activities of the National Park Service. A nonprofit organization authorized by Congress, it makes interpretive material available to park visitors by sale or free distribution. All net proceeds support the interpretive and research programs of the National Park Service.

"Friends of Lake Meredith and Alibates" Group established in November of 2005. The mission of the Friends Group is to support, promote and raise funds for Lake Meredith National Recreation Area and Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument in partnership with the National Park Service and other supporters who value the unique qualities of these national resources.
