February 9, 2010, 11:14 am

Don’t miss your chance to win a $50,000 grant from the Redwood Creek Greater Outdoors Project contest! Entries will be accepted until February 28, 2010.

The Greater Outdoors Project awards financial grants to nonprofit organizations to use towards specific environmental projects that endeavor to preserve, protect and provide access to the great American outdoors. The winning organization will receive a $50,000 grant to fund a specific outdoor project. Eight other finalists will receive $10,000 each in runner-up grants.

To enter, submit a specific project description that strives to preserve, protect and provide access to the great American outdoors. Registered 501(c)(3) outdoor and environmental nonprofits, such as mountain and trail clubs or conservation groups, are eligible to apply for the Redwood Creek Greater Outdoors Project.

Think your organization has what it takes? Notable past submissions include tree-planting initiatives, trail and waterway construction, and projects aimed at reclaiming stretches of land and restoring them for use as a wildlife habitat or nature conservancy.

Nine finalists will be selected, and starting in April, Americans will vote to determine the next Greater Outdoors Project winner.
