Oh, Ranger! Story Tour: Update #2

August 6, 2010, 11:15 am

Our team of Oh, Ranger! Story Tour ambassadors is still on the road, collecting stories about our national parks. I spoke to our lead ambassador, Abe, the other day to get the inside scoop on the team’s latest adventures.

Over the past few weeks, they were collecting stories at Yosemite and Grand Teton National Park. This week they head to West Yellowstone, Montana, where they’ll be set up at the Yellowstone IMAX Theatre. From there, it’s on to the Black Hills Visitor Information Center in Rapid City, South Dakota, the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, and Acadia / Bar Harbor.

In addition from meeting park-lovers and gathering their favorite memories, the team has also been making their own national park memories—from climbing Half Dome to coming face-to-face with elk and bison, they’re experiencing the best of our parks!

Abe gave us a sneak peak of some of the stories they’ve been collecting, which will be up online in a few weeks. They met a pastor whose church is dedicated to motorcycle riders. He’s been doing a summer roadtrip with his congregation, and they were stopped in Jackson Hole, after almost 5,000 miles on the road this summer! The team also spoke with a woman whose great grandmother donated a large portion of land to what became Shenandoah National Park.

The team has been having a great time meeting park-lovers and hearing their stories, and they’re looking forward to meeting you, too! Visit OhRanger.com/StoryTour to see the upcoming schedule, watch videos of other park-lovers or to post your own story.

The Oh, Ranger! Story Tour is traveling to national parks and public lands all across America, collecting stories from park-lovers like you! Your stories will inspire others to seek out new adventures in our national parks. As tour sponsor, Hyundai will donate $100,000 to the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA). With your help, we will create an archive to document and preserve the evolving stories of our national parks.
