Free Admission to National Parks for Veterans Day Weekend Nov. 11-13

October 10, 2011, 9:49 am

The land that servicemen and women have fought to protect will offer a weekend free of fees. In honor of Veterans Day, select national parks will not be changing an admission fee from November 11-13. Take advantage of the last free admission weekend of 2011 and make it a memorable one!

Experience some of the most beautiful and storied parts of the country in our national parks. Take the family for a little pre-Thanksgiving workout and hike your favorite trail. Perhaps a historic trip is more your style, or spend the whole weekend around the campfire singing your favorite songs. As the fall moves into winter, it’s the perfect time of the year to sneak in a getaway.

In select parks, fall foliage will be at its peak. Leaf-peeping can’t be rivaled in the vast expanses of the national parks. For as specific list of which parks are offering free admission, check the list for over 100 different locations. Search by state to see which parks nearby are open for some free play!

Saving on admission is always a plus, but stretch that hard-earned dollar a little further with deals being offered in surrounding areas. Grab deals in select gateway communities around the national parks right here.

Park concessioners sometimes have special deals during free admission weekends, so be sure to check out the site for more postings on how to save some money.

Happy adventuring and have a safe holiday weekend!
