Teachers there are many wonderful programs for your students. There are lesson plans, pre-visit and post-visit materials available for you. There are also "Teaching With Historic Places" materials available! The Education Specialist can visit your classroom and help you plan your field trip.

Plan A Field Trip

The Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site offers many special presentations during class field trips. There are demonstrations of log hewing, stone cutting, and coal mining techniques. The park has rangers in period costume that will take students throughout the park. There are also many exhibits, a movie, and the historic Lemon House and Engine House Exhibit Shelter to explore.
