Overview

Beautiful Altus Lake is located in scenic southwestern Oklahoma, near the city of Lone Wolf. The lake possesses approximately 6,500 acres of clear open water and the park area covers around 4,300 land acres. Fish species in Altus Lake include largemouth bass, walleye, crappie, catfish, hybrid striped bass, and white bass. Fishing is a popular activity on the lake and is available year-round. Several boat ramps and camping facilities are available around the lake. Visitors to the lake can also enjoy rock climbing in the nearby Quartz Mountain Baldy Point Climbing Area. The Altus Dam and Lake are part of the W. C. Austin Project.

The nearby Quartz Mountain Resort Park features numerous outdoor recreation and entertainment opportunities including a miniature golf course and an 18-hole full-sized golf course. Visitors who wish to extend their stay in the area can stay overnight at one of the tent sites or RV campsites or rent on of the cabins at Quartz Mountain Resort Park.
