Eye of the Whale

The Eye of the Whale road runs about 9 miles from the Klondike Bluffs area of the park to the main scenic drive near Balanced Rock. It is a relatively easy 4wd route passing through high-desert terrain. About half way along it are some steep sand grades which can be handled traveling east towards Balanced Rock, but are difficult to get back up in the other direction. About 7 miles along the road on the right side, Eye of the Whale Arch is visible to the south. The Eye of the Whale Arch Road "T's" into the Willow Flats Road at the 9 mile mark. Turning left will take you 1 mile to the main Arches Road near Balanced Rock.
