Overview

At only five to six feet deep, Avalon Reservoir encompasses 66 acres on the scenic Pecos River. The dam is an earth-fill structure that was constructed in 1907. Fishing, scuba-diving, canoeing, and kayaking are some of the recreational opportunities that can be found at this park. The year-round fishing for white bass, catfish, and bream is very popular amongst the anglers.

Coming from north, take U.S. Highway 285 into Carlsbad, New Mexico. Take a left on Canal Street and head three miles to Avalon Road, then turn left.
