TRAIL BEGINNING: 7,680 ft. The trailhead is marked .2 miles east of Shell Creek Ranger Station on Forest Road #610.

TRAIL ENDING: 9,240 ft. Adelaide Lake.

ATTRACTIONS AND CONSIDERATIONS: This trail is excellent for day hikes or trail rides. It could also be the first leg of an extended pack trip into the Shell Lakes Area. Good lake and stream fishing and scenic vistas.

NARRATIVE: The first 2.1 miles are easy walking through sagebrush parks and flats to the intersection of the Old Mail Trail. From there, the trail climbs four miles until it meets a four-wheel drive road on the south shore of Lake Adelaide. At this point, one can hike to Lake Arden, Shell Lakes, or Shell Reservoir.
