SETTING This structure was built prior to 1914 and used as a guard station in the summertime by the fireguards. The East Fork Guard Station is approximately 50 miles southeast of Hamilton, MT located near Sula, MT.
CONSIDERATIONS/ ATTRACTIONS The East Fork Guard Station features a 16? x 24? one room log cabin. The cabin is equipped with a wood burning stove for heating, firewood that will need to be split (axe provided) and a four-burner propane stove/oven for cooking (propane provided). The kitchen is furnished with a Coleman cooler for refrigeration, dishes, utensils, cooking pots and pans. There are two large bunkbeds - please bring your own bedding. Additional ammenities include an outside vault toilet and hand pump for potable water. A hitch rail is provided for horses. There is plenty of open space for camping and outdoor games. An open fire pit with benches is set up on the banks of the East Fork River, perfect for evening marshmallow roasts. Pack it in - Pack it out. To see a photo of the interior of the cabin click here.
ACCESS During the winter months the road is plowed to within ¾ of a mile of the site.
DIFFICULTY Easy access. Bring weed-free seed feed for your stock and plan on cleaning up the area.
