Visitors Centers Opening for Dinosaur National Monument and Keweenaw National Historical Park

Dinosaur National Monument has two openings

Although Dinosaurs have been extinct for millions of years, we still can't help being fascinated by them. In Colorado and Utah, these creatures are still leaving visitors in awe at Dinosaur National Moument. The Monument will be opening its brand new visitor center September 28, with Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar slated as the speaker. The event is open to the public and will kick off at 10 a.m.

But the dinosaur fun doesn't end there. The brand new Quarry Exhibit Hall opens to the public on October 4. Once again visitors will be able to see the famed wall of 1,500 fossils.

Calumet Visitor Center

Calumet Visitor Center will hold its Grand Opening on Thursday, October 27, 2011. It will be the first ever visitor center at Keweenaw National Historical Park. The new 6,000 square foot exhibit and display will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The building where the new visitor center is located used to be the old Union Building and was purchased by the National Park Service in 1999. The project and indoor renovations have been ongoing since 2010.
