National Kids to Parks Day

It's time to get out and enjoy the spring with the kids! Take the family to your favorite outdoor location for National Kids to Parks Day (KTP). The day is set for Saturday, May 19, 2012. KTP is a nation-wide day organized by National Park Trust (NTP) to encourage kids and families to go outside. This marks the second time annual event has been held and looks to grow each year. More than 15,000 families in almost 200 towns participated in the family-friendly day last year.

To find an event close to you, simply use the event finder by entering your state. Various parks are hosting a variety of programs to teach children about the outdoors. Some of these include star parties, geocaching, scavenger hunts, nature hikes, wildlife talks and much more. So far, 72,303 people have pledged to visit parks tomorrow. Make sure to add your name to that list and share with as many friends and family as you can.

A fun way to support NPT is by getting your own Buddy Bison! Take a photo of him in your favorite park and share it online. You can check out all the places he's traveled with all his friends across the country. He will be one of your best outdoor adventure pals.

If you are unsure where you want to go, don't forget to use Oh, Ranger! ParkFinder to see what parks are nearby! It is now available for Android as well as its original iPhone platform.
