Great American Backyard Campout

Dust off the tent and roll out the sleeping bags – it’s time to go camping! The Great American Backyard Campout is an event sponsored by the National Wildlife Federation’s Be Out There Movement. This program is dedicated to getting children outside with their families and promoting healthy lifestyles in the great outdoors.

The Great American Backyard Campout is scheduled for June 23rd and is open to families, individuals, or teams. The participants are welcome to camp anywhere in the U.S., (wherever camping is permitted), and can even participate on a different date if it is more convenient. Not sure where to go? Use the OhRanger! ParkFinderTM mobile app to find great campsites near you.

The Campout aims to get Americans off the couch, away from the TV, and outside to experience the natural beauty of the world around them. Those who wish to participate are encouraged to register for the event online, where they will be provided with a webpage, planning guides, and email invitations to send to friends and family asking for help in reaching the group’s fundraising goal. Hats, t-shirts, and gift cards are rewarded to those who raise money and awareness for NWF sponsored children’s programs, e.g., Be Out There. Those who register online are also entered for a chance to win a trip to a NWF television appearance in New York City or Los Angeles, where they will go behind the scenes to meet celebrity naturalist David Mizejewski.

School is out and so are the stars – make sure you and your loved ones register for the Great American Backyard Campout today!
