National Get Outdoors Day – June 8, 2013

Get off the couch and get outdoors! Saturday June 8th is National Get Outdoors Day, and we would like to personally invite you and yours to participate in this important event! National Get Outdoors Day is an annual event that encourages American families to spend time together while enjoying the country’s natural treasures. Americans are urged to get outside and have fun wherever they can!

In a generation that is increasingly dependent on technology, National Get Outdoors Day is an opportunity for Americans to connect with their environments and communities. The goals of GO Day are to introduce first-time visitors to national and state parks and to help today’s youth create meaningful experiences in the outdoors. National Get Outdoors Day is a proud supporter of Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move Outside movement, and both initiatives aim to combat childhood obesity by promoting healthy and active lifestyles.

To see the list of site locations, to recommend a site for Get Outdoors Day activities, or to support the campaign, please visit the National Get Outdoors Day website. To connect with others and to learn more, visit the event's Facebook page. While June 8th is the annual event, challenge yourself to get outdoors every day! Use the Oh, Ranger ParkFinder App to find parks near you for adventures all year round. Take the time to invest in a healthier, happier, and outside lifestyle today!
