Bolinas Ridge
Overview
From the top of Bolinas Ridge take in bird’s-eye views up and down the San Andreas Rift Zone. The fault divides Olema Valley, a lovely, undulating landscape reminiscent of England, that dips slowly down to the waters of Tomales Bay in the north, and Bolinas Lagoon in the south. The 10.5-mile Bolinas Ridge trail starts in Samuel Taylor Park.

Hiking
The 10.5-mile Bolinas Ridge trail starts in Samuel Taylor Park. The trail crosses rolling coastal rangeland, enters towering redwoods, and breaks into open chaparral before it reaches its southern trailhead at Alpine Road on Mount Tamalpais--offering views of Bolinas Lagoon, Tomales Bay, and the Pacific Ocean along the way.
Wildlife Watching
Watch for birds and other critters on the trails. Dogs are welcome at the park.
Directions
Driving
The Presidio can be reached from the north by crossing the Golden Gate Bridge (Highways 1 and 101); from the east by way of Lombard Street (Highway 101); and from the south via Highway 1.
Flying
San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose International Airports service the San Francisco Bay area.
Public Transportation
San Francisco Municipal Railway (MUNI) buses serve the Presidio via the 28, 29 and 43 lines. Bus service from the North Bay to the Golden Gate Bridge toll plaza is available through Golden Gate Transit.
