Overview

Boundary Dam is located on the Pend Oreille River in the northeast corner of Washington. As a source of hydroelectric power, Boundary Dam supplies electricity to Seattle. More than one gigawatt of electricity can be generated by rock alongside Boundary Dam, which is home to the Boundary Powerhouse facility. In addition, visitors to Boundary Dam can expect to find 4 primitive campsites in a beautiful forested area. Along with scenic views of the river, visitors may also enjoy steep rock walls descending 100 to 200 feet to the river. The shoreline is frequented by wildlife such as elk, bear, deer, and many others. Activities at Boundary Dam include camping, hiking, picnicking, fishing and water sports. Also interestingly enough, Boundary Dam was filmed in the "The Postman," a film by Kevin Costner. As a result during 1997, Boundary Dam appeared as if a town was fashioned on its outer wall. There are no facilities at this location. About 2.5 miles north of Boundary Dam is a campground outfitted with toilets, grills and picnic tables.
