Overview

Winding 13 miles upstream from the city of Carlsbad, New Mexico, you will find Brantley Dam. The project's main purpose was to replace McMillan Dam, which was declared unsafe. Additional benefits include irrigation, flood control, fish and wildlife enhancement, and recreation. Fishing, boating, camping, hiking, and all kinds of water-sports can be had at the beautiful Brantley Lake State Park.

    Two boat ramps and two docks make the lake easily accessible for boaters.

    Camping opportunities are available at Brantley Lake.

    Year-round fishing for catfish, large-mouth bass, crappie, white bass, walleye, bluegill, and carp make this lake an anglers paradise. A fishing dock for anglers is located on the west side of the reservoir.
