This route leads northeastward from the mesa top at Grand View Point three miles to Gooseberry Camp. The route descends steeply through the various layers of the canyon to meet the Gooseberry drainage. The route is rocky and dry.

Begin this trail at the Grand View Point Picnic Area. It descends into the canyon immediately using switchbacks to traverse through the initial steep layers of rock. The first two miles of this route follow switchbacks. At the bottom of the switchbacks the track reaches the drainage of Gooseberry Canyon. It follows that path for one mile to meet the White Rim Road.

Gooseberry Camp lies at the meeting of White Rim Road and Gooseberry Trail. From this point hikers can cross the road to peer toward the Colorado River. There is no access trail to the river. Hikers should expect some biking and four-wheel driving traffic on White Rim Road.

Directions from Island in the Sky Visitor Center: Drive 6.25 miles southward on the Main Island Road. At the junction of Upheaval Dome/Grand View Roads bear left toward Grand View Point. Continue traveling five miles, past the Buck Canyon Overlook, to the Grand View Point Picnic Area.
