Most of the bus services we're familiar with leave SLC in the morning - around 10am.  You might be able to get a private trip to leave later in the day, depending on how many are in your party.

Here are a few links to check out and perhaps worth a call to check on your exact dates:

You should think about the kind of hikes you'll likely be taking and bring gear to suit your needs.  It will be fairly cold in Yellowstone from here on in to the winter, so make sure to bring good layers and if you're camping, a sleeping bag and tent rated to below freezing at minimum depending on how late in the season you plan to go.  No matter what, speak with a ranger before you head out on the trail to get specific conditions updates.

Here are some other items to consider, though certainly not an exhaustive list:

Day pack
Compass
Map
Water bottle(s); and purification method if you're planning on overnight Headlamp or Flashlight
Knife/Multi-purpose Tool
Sunscreen
Sunglasses
Boots/shoes adequate for terrain
Fleece jacket
Polypropylene underwear (shirt & pants)
Wide-brimmed hat
Resealable plastic bags
Toilet paper
Hiking Poles

The National Park Service provides a great description of seasonal weather conditions, as well as a month-by-month temperature chart on its Grand Canyon Weather page. Take a look!

Yes, by June it will be over 100 degree's F in the inner canyon. Start as early as possible, this is also best for beautiful sinrise colors. If you go to the bottom and back in one day, stay at the Phantom Ranch area during the day and then hike back up in the late afternoon. Its a 5000 foot elevation drop into the canyon, take plenty of water, snacks and your camera. The hike down is easy, but the hike out can be, unless you are a excellent hiker, much harder and strenous. Hike down the South Kaibab trail to the bottom for the best views and sunrise shots, then take the Bright Angel trail back up. It has a water stop every mile and a half to the top once you get to Indian Gardens Campground.

Look for wildlife, big horn sheep, mule deer, ravens, squirrels and maybe even a rattlesnake (rarely seen).

Another way to do the trip down and out is by mule. The way in is about the same, but on the way out the mule will do all the walking/climbing while you are ree to look around and enjoy the scenery...

Good question, as the North and South Rims are often visited separately.  If during the same trip, however (within one week) the entrance fees per car are reciprocal, and therfore do not have to paid twice.

I don't think so, once you enter the park your entrance stub is good for 7 days entrance. It takes about 4 hours non-stop to drive around from the NR to the SR.

The temperature never fits exactly into those lows and highs, but July and August come pretty close, with lows just below 50 and highs just above 70. Enjoy!
