Yellowstone is in the process of reconstructing its roads and you will likely encounter delays and nighttime closures. Below is a listing of most of the construction which may change. From early November through late April, all roads south through the park are closed to wheeled vehicles, including the road to Old Faithful Geyser. During the winter season only two roads are plowed:

  • between the North Entrance and Cooke City, MT
  • from Mammoth Hot Springs to the parking area at the Upper Terraces

I assume you'll be going from Driggs to Jackson Hole and then up into GT? If so, Jackson Hole has a big variety of restaurants, both traditional as well as a few fast food joints. Finding breakfast options there should not be a problem at all.

If, on the other hand, you're heading up to West Yellowstone, and accessing GT via Yellowstone, you'll find some options in West Yellowstone, though not as many as Jackson Hole. The Mcdonalds there is open for breakfast, and I assume some of the traditional restaurants are as well.

Finding something open in the other small towns in the area is hit or miss. Most are tiny towns, but truck stops and travel center gas stations pop up here and there, some of which have dining rooms or cafeterias or in house fast food.

Jackson Hole is your best bet though.

If you mean the National Park Service at Grand Canyon, then the answer is no. Hualapai River Runners is a private company that has operated river rafting on the Colorado through the Grand Canyon since 1973. They are the only company that offers day trips through the canyon, so you don't have a lot of other options unless you are planning an extended trip. If you are, you might consider one of several other rafting companies, including OARS, Canyoneers, and Western River Expeditions. By its very nature, white water rafting can be dangerous and most rafting guides take precautions to limit your exposure to risk by providing personal flotation devices, spotters, etc. The stretch of river that Hualapai River Runners floats features rapids that range from Class III to Class V, that offers amazing scenery and epic adventure. Have fun!
