The regions North of the Yukon River, all the way to the Arctic, are the worst for mosquitos in general.  The worst time of year to go is in July, however you are likely to encounter them as soon temperatures remain above freezing for a couple of weeks.

You can bring repellant, but the stuff that repels the best is bad for your skin and clothes, and will contain a measured amount of deet.  Since I personally prefer to not to crop dust myself, you can purchase netting to go around your hat or head, and maintain long sleeves and pants throughout the day.

If you still get bit, don't scratch!

The USGS administers the Golden Eagle Pass, and will have a complete list of where they are sold.  You can go online and order one at www.parkpass.net, or get in touch with USGS ordering line directly at 888-275-8747, ext. 1, or email them at fedrecpass@usgs.gov

Yes, it can hold two tents, as long as they're both not huge! There are four campgrounds in Shenandoah National Park: Mathews Arm (mile 22.1), Big Meadows (mile 51.2), Lewis Mountain (mile 57.5) and Loft Mountain (mile 79.5)

Civil War history in Woodstock, VT

July 19, 2010, 10:00 am
Barely scratch the surface of almost any New England city or town, and some interesting tidbit of history lurks beneath. Often it’s the story of a natural disaster, a quirky early settler, or some footnote to the American Revolution. It turns out that Woodstock is a “Civil War museum,’’ according ...

While portions of this scenic route remain open year-round, weather permitting, the entire Going-to-the-Sun Road is open for vehicle access from mid-June to mid-September. Before and after this core summer season, sections of the road will be closed.
