First, save money on entrance fees by picking up an "America The Beautiful - The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Annual Pass" at parkpass.net. If you're age 62 or older, you're eligible for the Senior Pass.

In Utah You’ll be right in the heart of the Grand Circle, a collection of seven national parks, eight national monuments, numerous state parks, scenic byways, historical sites, prehistoric Indian ruins, colorful ghost towns and stunning geologic formations. Take some time to explore some of these places, including Zion, Canyonlands and Monument Valley. For more information on sights to see in the area, check out www.grandcircle.org and www.utah.com/nationalparks/grandcircle.htm. This article also offers some great tips!

Highway 12 does not close for the winter but is occasionaly closed during very heavy snow storms. The section between Boulder and Torrey is not ploughed at night. Watch for deer!

Route 12 doesn't have scheduled closings, but has been known to close from time to time during heavy storms or other natural occurrences.  These two sites have a good bit of information on the drive, things to do along the way, and information for up-to-the-minute road information.

Safe travels!

Visitors to Utah's National Parks and Monuments often regret that they tried to do too much in a limited amount of time! We recommend a few days at each park and encourage you to plan your itinerary around a few destinations where you can take full advantage of the many wonderful opportunities each park offers.
