In Yosemite Valley, visitors are encouraged to park their vehicles at the day visitor parking area and ride the free shuttle to 21 stops throughout the valley (all shuttles are wheelchair-lift equipped). The roads get busy and often you will find yourself sitting in traffic, which is not a fun way to spend your vacation. Also, the shuttle can get you to most major destinations in the park. In summer, additional free shuttles provide access to El Capitan in Yosemite Valley, round-trip access from Wawona to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias; Wawona to Yosemite Valley; and in the Tuolumne Meadows area, from the Tioga Pass Entrance Station to Olmsted Point. In winter, free shuttle transportation is available between Yosemite Valley and the Badger Pass Ski Area.

To see if the shuttles stop where you need to get to (and for a schedule), visit  http://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/bus.htm

There are 13 campgrounds in the park, four of which are in Yosemite Valley. A seven-day camping limit is in effect in Yosemite Valley and Wawona from May 1 to September 15, and a 14-day limit outside of the Valley. For the rest of the calendar year, the limit is 30 days. A maximum of six people and two automobiles may stay in a campsite. RVs are allowed at some campsites. For more information, visit the campground rules and regulations on the park's website at www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/camping.htm.

Yosemite is an exicting park that is popular year-round, especially in the winter and spring. You may miss a lot of the classroom crowds as most students will still be in school. Please note that certain trails and attractions are still closed in April. Call the park at (209) 372-0200 for more information.
