Catoctin Mountain Park offers a variety of opportunities for kids to explore. There are several short nature trails, scheduled programs such as evening campfire programs and programs just for kids staying at Camp Misty Mount. Group educational programs may be requested in advance by writing.  Please call the Visitor Center at (301) 663-9388 for more information or suggestions.

Be A Junior Ranger

CATOCTIN MOUNTAIN PARK JUNIOR RANGER PROGRAM

This program includes a self discovery workbook to be completed at the park Visitor Center and includes one trail activity. Park wildlife and cultural resources are explored through stories, fill-in the blank, puzzles, and games. A junior ranger badge will be awarded upon completion and review with a ranger of the workbook.The Junior Ranger Program promotes stewardship and protection of Catoctin Mountain Park, a unit of the National Park Service. Estimated time to complete the Program is approximately 1 hour for the workbook and 1 hour for the trail portion of the program.
