Charles M. Russell Wetlands Management District

The CMR Wetlands Management District (CMR WMD) includes three WPA's: Clarksfork WPA, Tews WPA and Spidel WPA. CMR WMD is administered by a wetland manager who is located at Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge in Lewistown, Montana. The WMD includes 20 counties in Southeastern Montana and encompasses 52,834 square miles. This district is outside the Prairie Pothole Region and contains few fee title easement properties. Since 1988, most of the WMD workload has involved Partners for Wildlife program consisting of wetland projects, landowner assistance, Food Security Act activities, FmHA conservation easement fee title inspections and other Department of Agriculture activities.
