Cherry Creek Lake
Overview
Cherry Creek Dam, located at the southeast edge of Denver in Aurora, CO, was the first of the three dams to be built to protect the Denver region from catastrophic South Platte River floodwaters that plagued the area for more than 100 years. Recreational opportunities at the lake include camping, fishing, picnicking, an archery/rifle range, a horse stable, nature and bike trails, model airplane airstrip, dog training areas, a marina, and a swimming area. There are also boats for rental and other concessions available at the Cherry Creek Lake Marina. The park which is operated by the State of Colorado is open year-round.
Activities
Boating
Cherry Creek is open for all sorts of boating. Boating lessons and other concessions are available at The Cherry Creek Marina.
Bicycling
Cherry Creek includes 12 miles of paved trails and 35 total miles of multi-use trails available for biking.
Camping
Year-round camping is available. Summer weekends tend to fill fast with off-peak times providing quieter experiences. Campground amenities include: Deluxe full hook-up sites, basic tent sites, showers and laundry facilities (possible seasonal closures) and a dump station.
Fishing
Fishing is a favorite activity of visitors whether from a boat, or on shore.
Hiking
There are 12 miles of multi-use trails with easy rolling terrain.
Horseback Riding
Horses are allowed on the multi-use trails. Painthorse Stables inside the park offers horse rides.
Picnicking
There are six group picnic areas for up to 250 people each.
RVing
Campgrounds include ammenties for RV's.
Water Sports
Popular water activities include boating, jet skiing, water skiing, sailboarding, fishing and swimming.
Winter Sports
Popular winter sports at Cherry Creek are ice skating, snowshoeing, snow tubing, sleding and ice fishing.
Seasonality/Weather
The park is open year-round but some facilities are closed seasonally due to winter weather.

Cherry Creek Marina
Cherry Creek Marina is located inside Cherry Creek State Park, and has been owner operated for over 18 years. They offer private slips for boat owners, as well as rental boats for those looking for a day of fun.
At the Marina there is a variety of rental boats including pontoon boats, fishing boats, mono-hull dinghy sailboats, Sunfish, paddleboats, kayaks and canoes.
