Mayacmas Campground is located in the North Cow Mountain Recreation Area east of Ukiah, approximately 120 miles north of San Francisco. The campground is an older, primitive site in a wooded, shaded area at the northernmost trailhead for the Glen Eden / Mayacmas trails.

Mayacmas Campground offers fire rings, picnic tables, and pit toilets; no potable water available. Note: Due to recent vandalism, restroom facilities are only located at the upper sites. The campground also serves as a trailhead for the Glen Eden and Mayacmas trails (non-motorized).

Mendo Rock Road is steep and winding and is not recommended for recreational vehicles or horse trailers. Equestrians should use the Glen Eden Trailhead. Before exploring the Cow Mountain Recreation Area, obtain a free map at the BLM office in Ukiah.

North Cow Mountain is closed to OHV (off-highway vehicle) use. OHV use is permitted only in the South Cow Mountain Recreation Area.

Directions

Directions from Ukiah, CA: Exit US 101 at Talmage Road, then 1.5 miles east to Eastside Road. Turn right and proceed 0.3 miles to Mill Creek Road. Turn left on Mill Creek Road 3 miles to Mendo Rock Road (watch for sign to North Cow Mountain). Follow road left , up the mountain approximately 5 miles to "T" intersection. Turn right for approximately 4 miles to Mayacmas Campground turnoff. Turn left at sign and proceed 1 mile to campground.
