Overview

Sunset Rock State Park is located in Hartford County, Connecticut just 25 minutes southwest of the state's capitol, Hartford. Enjoy hiking throughout Sunset Rock State Park, as it lies on acres of undeveloped land. Much of the summit of Bradley Mountain and the upper ridgeline west of the summit extending down to Plainville Reservoir has been conserved as Sunset Rock State Park, an undeveloped state property, and as water conservation property managed by the town of Southington. The popular 51- mile Metacomet Trail passes close by and is a spectacular place to visit while in the area.

    Bradley Mountain is a large area of protected public land. Much of the summit and the upper ridgeline west of the summit extending down to Plainville Reservoir has been conserved as Sunset Rock State Park where you can find beautiful hiking, although the area is undeveloped.

1. From West Hartford, CT, head east on Farmington Ave/Reservoir Ave toward 4 Mile Rd go 0.4 mi. 2. Turn right at S Main St go 1.8 mi. 3. Merge onto I-84 W via the ramp to Waterbury go 7.5 mi. 4. Slight right at CT-72 W (signs for State Hwy 72 W/Bristol) go 0.4 mi. 5. Take the CT-372/New Britain Ave ramp to Plainville go 0.3 mi. 6. Keep right at the fork to continue toward CT-372/New Britain Ave and merge onto CT-372/New Britain Ave go 0.7 mi. 7. Turn right at Crooked St go 0.4 mi. 8. Turn right at White Oak Ave go 0.1 mi. 9. Turn left at Ledge Rd go 0.5 mi.
