Overview

Also known as Pool 6, the David D. Terry Lock and Dam area attracts many outdoor enthusiasts with its excellent fishing, campground, and picnic areas. The Terry Lock and Dam area contains five recreation parks, which are Dam Site 6 East, Dam Site 6 West, Willow Beach Park, Murray Park, and Burns Park. The old river cutoffs and the tailwaters of the dam and Murry Lock and Dam upstream in particular offer abundant fish for anglers. The recreational area is split by the city of Little Rock, with parks on the eastern and western limits of the city.

  • Boating

    All five parks in the area offer public boat launch facilities.

  • Camping

    The Willow Beach Campground offers 21 sites with electric and water hook ups, as well as hot showers, a playground, and a dump station.

  • Fishing

    Fishing is popular in the David D. Terry Lake. The old river cutoffs and the tailwaters of the dam and Murry Lock and Dam upstream in particular offer abundant fish for anglers. Willow Beach Park has fish cleaning facilities available for visitors.

  • Historic Sites

    Please contact the park for information on historical/cultural tours.

  • Hunting

    The Arkansas River floodwaters offer some of the richest duck hunts in the world. Forested areas around the lakes offer excellent turkey hunting as well. Check with the Army Corps of Engineers office for regulations.

    Picnic facilities are available at Dam Site 6 West, Murray Park, and Willow Beach Park.
