Denali National Park & Preserve

Iron Creek and the West End

Latitude, Longitude: 63.746403, -151.695185

An in-depth description of this area is impossible due to its overwhelming size and variety of terrain. The unique feature of this area, more than any other unit in the Denali Wilderness, is remoteness. One can hike through this area for months and see no signs of human passage. For true adventurers, who have both time and experience, this is a possibility.

Directions

No direct access is possible. Access is via units 20 and 21. It is necessary to cross the McKinley River which is extremely dangerous, and should only be attempted by those with extensive glacial river crossing experience.
