Denali National Park & Preserve

McKinley Bar West

Latitude, Longitude: 63.454844, -150.865631

This unit is located west of Wonder Lake, at the end of the park road. It is a tremendous area for bird and beaver watching as well as viewing Denali. The vegetation in this area is mostly heavy brush and wet tundra, but higher elevations are drier and thinner. The mosquito population is dense in mid-summer. The McKinley River forms the southern border of this unit, and is generally impossible to cross in this area.

No direct access from the road is available. Access is from the Wonder Lake area.
