Windy Creek
Windy Creek is one of the two backcountry units south of the Alaska Range. It tends to receive more precipitation than units north of the Range.
Glacial valleys have steep walls, with the upper elevations, consisting of loose rock, climbing above 5000?. The lowlands are made up of mixed spruce and willow forests, grassy fields and willow swamps.
Due to its inaccessibility via the park road, this unit does not receive as much visitation. Many of the areas around upper Windy Creek are rarely explored.
From the town of Cantwell and vicinity, south of the park on the Parks Highway, or via units two or five.
