Fish Lake Area Trails

Lakeshore (Section 1)
Difficulty: Easy
Length: 3 miles
Designation: Non-motoized National Recreation Trail
Trailhead: Located west of Dr. Creek Campground
This trail follows the western shores of Fish Lake from Lakeside Resort to Bowery Haven Resort at 8,860 feet in elevation. Access is available along a number of locations just off Highway U-25. Historical Interpretive Signs can be found along this trail.
Horses are not permitted along this section of the Lakeshore Trail.

Lakeshore (Section 2)
Difficulty: Moderate
Length: 2.5 miles
Designation: Non-motoized National Recreation Trail
Trailhead: Located at Lake Creek
This trail segment begins just east of Bowery Haven Resort and rises sharply to 9,120 feet in elevation at Pelican Point. The trail then descends to Lake Creek at 8,860 feet in elevation. Historical Interpretive Signs can be found along this trail.

Lakeshore (Section 3)

Length: 5.5 miles
Designation: Non-motorized National Recreation Trail
Trailhead: Located at Lake Creek
Lake Creek lies at an 8,860 foot elevation. The trail rises in a steep grade over the first 1,000 feet from the eastern shoreline of Fish Lake to the third overlook on Mytoge Mountain, at an elevation of 10,010 feet. Historical Interpretive Signs can be found along this trail.

Lakeshore (Section 4)
Difficulty: Difficult
Length: 4 miles
Designation: Non-motorized National Recreation Trail
Trailhead: Located at the third overlook on Mytoge Mountain (10,010 foot elevation)
This segment of the Lakeshore trail begins at the third overlook on Mytoge Mountain and passes the second overlook before descending 1,000 feet to the eastern shoreline of Fish Lake. The trail segment ends at the Dr. Creek Trailhead, which is at an elevation of 8,862 feet.
This segment is not recommended for mountain bikes!

Dr. Creek
Difficulty: Moderate
Length: 3 miles
Designation: None
Trailhead: Located just south of the Dr. Creek Campground along Highway U-25.
This trail reaches an elevation of 10,000 feet on the Fish Lake High Top.

Pelican Canyon
Difficulty: Moderate
Length: 5 miles
Designation: None
Trailhead: Located at Pelican Canyon Overlook
The trail begins at the Pelican Overlook and meanders through meadows with steep climbs to the Fish Lake High Top at an elevation of 11,000 feet.

Tasha Creek
Difficulty: Difficult
Length: 8 miles
Designation: None
Trailhead: Tasha Canyon Equestrian Trailhead or Sevenmile Creek Road.
This trail ends at Tasha Springs on the Fish Lake High Top at an elevation of 11,500 feet.

Crater Loop
Difficulty: Difficult
Length: 6 miles
Designation: None
Trailhead: Located at Lake Creek
From the Lake Creek Trailhead, the trail ascends to North Crater lake at an elevation of 9,500 feet on Mytoge Mountain. The trail then returns to theLake Creek Trailhead on a loop passing near the Johnson Valley Reservoir.
