Overview

This 600-acre area is open to hunting seasonally. Doerun Pitcherplant Bog is home to a rare species and sensitive habitats. To protect these resources, vehicular access is limited to entrance road and parking area. ATVs and horses prohibited.

Activities

  • Fishing

    Unless otherwise posted, fishing is allowed according to statewide regulations.

  • Hiking

    A half-mile nature trail begins at the kiosk with self-guided side trails to a platform overview of a pitcherplant bog, and loop trails to other bogs and uplands.

  • Hunting

    Deer and small game. Contact Georgia DNR for more information, regulations and seasons.

Directions

Driving

From Moultrie (intersection of U.S. 319 and the Moultrie Bypass), take Ga. 133 north for about 10 miles. Turn right into the Doerun Pitcherplant Bog Natural Area just before milepost 26.

From Albany, take Ga. 133 south to Doerun. Continue another three miles, pass milepost 26 and take an immediate left into Doerun Natural Area.

Parking is available at the kiosk along the access road within the natural area. There are no restroom or other facilities.
