Overview

This is a 2,437 acre Wildlife Management Area open to hunting deer, waterfowl, quail, dove, rabbit, squirrel, and turkey with primitive weapons, firearms, and archery. Fox squirrel hunting is prohibited. Camping, hiking, and fishing is also available at River Creek.

  • Camping

    One campground is located at the northern end of the wildlife management area off of Highway 84.

  • Fishing

    Fishing is available in any of the three major bodies of water in the park.

  • Hiking

    Hiking trails are located all over the park. Please refer to the topographical map for specific routes.

  • Hunting

    This is a 2,437 acre Wildlife Management Area open to hunting according to the following regulations and conditions: Deer - Archery (Quality Buck & Antlerless): Oct. 8-12, Nov. 5-9; Quota 30; Sign-In. Primitive Weapons (Quality Buck & Antlerless Last Day): Oct. 24-26; Quota 30; Check-In. Firearms (Quality Buck & Antlerless Last Day): Dec. 12-14; Quota 30; Check-In. Firearms Adult/Child (Quality Buck & Antlerless): Dec. 26-28; Quota 30; Sign-In. Turkey - Adult/Child: Mar. 27-29; Apr. 10-12; Quota 5; Sign-In. General Hunt-Apr. 31-May 3; Quota 5; Sign-In. Rabbit/Squirrel - Feb. 6-8. Quail - Nov. 15, Jan. 3, 10, 17, 24: Quota 3 parties/ hunt, Maximum 3 persons/party; Sign-In. Dove - Adult/Child: Sept. 6, 13; Quota 15; Sign-In. Waterfowl - Adult/Child: Dec. 20, Jan. 3; Quota 3 parties, Max 3 persons/party; Sign-In. Furbearers - No Season. SPECIAL REGULATIONS: Feral hogs may be taken during all deer hunts & any small game hunts after Oct. 31. Fox squirrel hunting prohibited. Only bucks with 4 or more points (one inch or longer) on one side of the antlers are legal. Apply for adult/ child dove hunts by Aug. 15; quail hunts by Nov. 1; adult/child deer and waterfowl hunts by Dec. 1; and adult/child turkey hunts by Mar. 1 by letter to: Wildlife Resources Division, Game Management Section, 2024 Newton Rd., Albany, GA 31701. Include phone # with application.

DIRECTIONS FROM THOMASVILLE: Take US Hwy. 84 west approx. 4 miles. WMA entrance is on left approx. 0.9 mile after crossing the Ochlocknee River Bridge.
