Overview

This 7,800 acre Yuchi Wildlife Management Area is open to hunting deer, dove, turkey, and small game with primitive weapons, archery, and firearms. Though it is known mostly for hunting, the area also attracts rare birds, such as Bachmans Sparrow, which are birds of open, grassy, pine savanna habitats.

Activities

  • Boating

    Access to the Savannah River is provided by a boat ramp located at the eastern most point of the park.

  • Camping

    No generators, musical instruments, radios, televisions, or other noise-making devices may be used after 10 p.m. or before 7 a.m. EST, in such a manner that they may be heard by other WMA visitors. Only trees that are dead and down may be cut and used for firewood by visitors while staying on WMAs.

  • Fishing

    Fishing is available at Yuchi Wildlife Management area with a fishing license. Access to the Savannah River is provided by a boat ramp located at the eastern most point of the park.

  • Hunting

    Deer, turkey, small game, furbearers and dove. Contact Georgia DNR for more information, regulations and seasons.

DIRECTIONS FROM WAYNESBORO: Take Hwy. 80 east 8 miles to Shell Bluff Community; turn right on Hwy. 23; travel 7 miles south; turn left on Ebenezer Church Rd.; go 1 mile to Check Station on right.
