Everything proof - Image: 5 Stars

After recently purchasing the Arc Teryx Sidewinder AR I can confidently say it is one of the best jackets/shells in existence. The thing is not only worthy to be called waterproof thanks to the goretex XCR but element proof. Everything you throw at this jacket will be laughed away. Anything short of meteors lava and hurricane projected telephone poles won't be a bother to you. And the goretex XCR is amazingly breathable so you won't feel like you're in plastic wrap if you get moving. This jacket has some of Arc Teryx's new seamless zippers which are 'welded' to the fabric rather than stiched. This has a host of benefits the main two being better waterproofing that doesn't need additional sealing and wind resistance. The main front zipper still has one small stich on either side the hood zipper on the neck of the jacket has the same. There is excellent range of motion with the arms and the powder skirt is a nice addition. The overall weight is fairly light I consider this to be my new rain jacket for backpacking. And skiing. And biking. And daily use. Ad nauseum. The sizing is very good the charts show me to be a medium and the medium I ordered fits perfectly. A note to nitpickers: I ordered the jacket in the Kangaroo color scheme and the browns are decently lighter than what appears in the photo. My only semi-complaint would be the hood system. The hood rolls up on the back of your neck and is folded/rolled into a zipper pouch. This pouch could have probably been made bigger as the pouch currently puffs out gets stiff and feels rather awkward when the hood is rolled up and stuffed in. In conclusion get this jacket. I'm confident I'll be wearing this for the rest of my life and although it was a very large purchas on my part I consider it worth every penny and don't regret it a bit.

I have arc' stingray jacket. But stingray hood is not stowable. However sidewinder is stowable-that point is very nice! NowI have satisfied. .

This jacket is phenomenal. It's warm completely waterproof and is extremely versatile. You can go out on a windy or cool day and be as comfortable as you can on the worst of blizzards. The pit zips are long and cool you down if it becomes too hot and the jacket will keep you warm in any weather. The laminated zippers pockets and cuffs keep out all water and snow. It is the perfect backcountry jacket.

North Face, watch out!! Image: 5 Stars

This jacket is the best jacket I've spent the best buck on! Based on appearence alone very stylish and eye-catching. I live in NYC and the weather hasn't been a factor for this all-around jacket. This is the first winter that I haven't been pierced by the chilly winds. Good bye North Face! Next coming winter it'll be the "Arc'teryx Sidewinder Sv".
