Deuter Kid's Fox 30 Backpack Deuter: Kid's Fox 30 Backpack

Share the load. This ergonomic kid-friendly weekend backpack has a 1830 cubic-inch capacity.

Specifically designed for young backpackers and day hikers out for long hauls the 30-liter capacity Deuter Kid's Fox 30 features a combination Alpine/Vari-Quick suspension and sizing system for an optimal kid-friendly fit. The reduced proportions in the back suspension give you the best possible sizing for weekend treks and longer trips. The internal hydration pouch can accommodate three-liter reservoirs but you have the freedom to customize the load based on your child's backpacking ability. Compression straps along the sides and a sternum strap up front help manage load control.

Great adjustable pack for kids, but could be lighter. Image: 4 Stars

This pack was the only one that I researched on-line that would fit my 9 year old sons 15 inch torso and is adjustable as he grows up to a 17 inch torso. He'll get a couple more years out of this pack. The drawbacks: too many do-dads which are unnecessary which adds weight for this one to two day overnighter. I think the pack if stripped down will weigh in at less than 2 pounds.I took out the razor blade to cut weight off (ie. the do-dads) and my son did not want me to touch it. He loves the pack the way it is at 2 1/2 pounds. We'll see how he likes it after our upcoming two overnight backpacker.

Recently received this pack after much searching for a kid's pack with quality features like adult packs. This pack appears to be of high quality with easy adjustment features. I have a very short bodied 5 year old and expect we will be using this pack for a very long time.
