Exped Airmat 7.5 Sleeping Pad Exped: Airmat 7.5 Sleeping Pad

The AirMat 7.5 is an incredibly comfortable ultra-lightweight full-length 3" thick sleeping pad.

Ruggedly designed with welded seams and durable dual air valves the Exped Airmat 7.5 mattress is an affordable air mattress that won't add excess weight to your summer climbing and backpacking packload. This single-chamber design features dual welded valves on the ends of the mattress instead of the corners to minimize wear and damage. The dark polyester cover resists abrasion and UV penetration and dries quickly when exposed to sunlight. When you're ready to go the Exped Airmat 7.5 mattress deflates quickly and conveniently into a small 8 x 4 in. package that you can attach to an external daisy chain or slip inside a pouch in your mountaineering or expedition backpack.

I'm not a rocket scientist, but I did sleep on the Exped Airmat Image: 5 Stars

Packs down small and inflates quickly. Best nights sleep I've had in the outdoors.

Micro Leaks not a problem Image: 5 Stars

The guy on the previous post complained that it developed microleaks after 40 days of continuous use. We should all be so unlucky. This is a kick--ass sleeping pad!

I used this on a backcountry trip to Yosemite and loved how compact this pad is. It's about 1/3 the size of my micro Thermarest. The air channels can feel a bit wobbly as you're off the ground by 3 inches (compared to one inch with the Thermarest) and don't have any foam to give it structure but if you get the inflation right it feels balanced. At 19" it's a bit narrow but a small price to pay for portability. At $40 it's a good price too. If you want an extremely light and small pad this is a great buy.

For summer camping i don't need an insulated pad. The Airmat 7.5 is light weight inflates easily deflates quickly and takes up minimal space in my pack. I was pleased with the price also.

This is the most comfortable mat I ever slep on until micro leak Image: 1 Stars

Aug 07. Micro leaks started after about 40 days of continous use. Flat in about 4 hours. Developed many leaks on dark side ripstop side. I am on a bicycle trip and despite repeated dunks in sinks and tubs leaks very difficult to find. Finally at kiddies swimming pool under max inflation and pushing hard on mat underwater the little micro leaks showed up. About ten found so far. A smaer of glue fixes but gees. Bought last fall in 2006 for my June 07 bike trip. I really loved it until the leaks started. I hope they improve this otherwise most comfortable mat I ever had. I am on an extended tour so hope my many patches hold but having doubts. Before buying one ask the company if any improvements have been made. This report similar to another bikers experience.
