I've never taken mine hiking but I really like using it. I use it for leftovers and cut fruit and other things where I might use a tupperware type container. But this has measurement markings is very sturdy and the lid stays on. A friend takes one hiking regularly and finds it useful for measuring and mixing and then eating.
