Garmin GPS eTrex Legend Cx GPS Garmin GPS: eTrex Legend Cx GPS

176x220-pixel color display with a 64MB microSD card for custom data. Battery duration: 32 hours.

If you need more memory for waypoints and maps this color-screen Garmin eTrex Legend Cx with included blank 64MB microSD card is an ideal upgrade from the Garmin eTrex and eTrex Legend. Why do you need memory? If you live in the States but you find yourself vacationing in Europe or Australia the eTrex Legend Cx GPS has the added memory space potential for uploading extra basemaps and expanding your mapping and tracking potential. You can also remove the 64MB microSD card and replace it with a larger 256MB microSD card (sold separately) without being forced to go out and buy a separate GPS system. Garmin designed the eTrex Legend Cx with a 256-color screen that's bright enough to read in sunlight so you can catch all the details on where you're going and how you'll get there. The automatic route generation feature also gives you turn-by-turn directions in case you're having a tough time finding your way from the airport to your hotel. One of the best improvements is the battery life--32 hours from two AA batteries is ideal for weeklong trips and extended remote road trips.

Don't hesitate if you have been looking for a GPS that can handle a wide variety of trips and tracking buy the eTrex Legend Cx. The color screen is amazing quality in the sun or indoors/shaded areas and you can change brightness at the touch of a button! The user menus are easy to navigate and figure out even without reading much of the manual. If you have never used GPS you should read the manual and bookmark the Garmin website for future use. If you are a GPS user already this unit is a nice upgrade from older models. The basemap is just Ok...highways and interstates only but you can get City Navigator and boost the capabilities tremendously! The micro data card is removable and can store lots of waypoints and maps so you can interchange them as you create trips on your PC. Most of the software I saw was NOT MAC compatible...so beware if you are a MAC user. When you purchase City Navigator you must register your stuff online at Garmin.com. Its easy to do and takes very little time.

The Vista is the perfect combination of functionality reliability price and weight for any GPS on the market. For climbing skiing biking... any outdoor wilderness travel activity... the Vista and other e-Trex models are incredible devices. The base maps that are included (standard) on the vista and other models (Legend etc) are nice for reference when in use. Only as heavy as a cell phone you won't be sacrificing weight. In my experience the battery life is approximately 8 or so hours when tracking satellites. I've used this device everyday for months in school and I've never had a problem.
