Garmont Shoes Men's Flash XCR Hiking Shoe Garmont Shoes: Men's Flash XCR Hiking Shoe

An all weather favorite for day hikes & light overnighters. Includes a Gore-Tex® lining.

For those who want a lightweight athletic fit but don't trust their ankles on rock-strewn paths the Garmont Men's Flash XCR Hiking Shoe offers a mid-ankle cut and trustworthy Vibram® sole. A seam taped GORE-TEX® XCR® lining underneath the suede and mesh upper protects your feet from water seepage leaving your feet dry and comfortable. Barely over a pound the Garmont Flash XCR Hiking Shoe relies on the integrated G3+ Spine structure to provide stability and cushioning. Immediately above the outsole a thermal plastic urethane grid offers a stable platform for hiking surfaces that are abruptly uneven yet also encourages easy forefoot flex. Then to soften the ride a sheet of lightweight polyurethane is sandwiched between this grid and theVibram® outsole. A description of the Garmont Flash XCR Hiking Shoe for men is not complete without mentioning Garmont's Anatomically Directed Design® elements a series of innovative construction modifications that improve comfort. An example is the lateral tongue post. This alteration from traditional shoe construction places extra cushioning on the lateral (outside) portion of the tongue thus reducing the tendency for the tongue to drift and also providing a better closure at the cuff to keep debris out.

i have taken these shoes everywherem whether on the Tetons or trecking in Thailand. They have been great for 4 years. I am sad to say that I have beaten them to death. The one minus is that they have come apart on some of the seams. at this point water gets into the shoe so it is time to buy a new boot. i would recomend this to anyone that enjoys hiking. great boot!!!

Soles are no good Image: 3 Stars

I've had a pair of XCR Flash for about 1 year now and the sole has seperated from the leather in multiple spots. I've also found that because of the seperation they have lost their ability to keep water out. They are comfortable and a good looking boot but I'd say overall these boots were a big disappointment.

Durability is somewhat questionable Image: 4 Stars

I am on my third pair of Garmont hiking shoes. I keep buying them so they must be doing many things right. They are beautifully designed and generally very well made. However the breathability of the gortex lining deteriorates over time so that while they may keep the water out which they do well your foot will become wet with perspiration. Additionally the vibram sole will begin to separate from the shoe sooner than I would expect from a shoe of this quality. And I am not a heavy person and am fairly light on my feet. Despite these downsides Garmont shoes are still a very solid product and well worth the money.
