La Sportiva N.A. Katana Climbing Shoe La Sportiva N.A.: Katana Climbing Shoe

Rock and Ice Magazine's top pick for "Best New All Arounder."

Designed on the high performance Miura last the Katana is a multipurpose lined shoe that's ideal for the gym or out on the crags. The dual Velcro strap closures have a generous size range to help dial in a proper fit over the breathable tongue. A down turned toe offers superb edging control. Keep in mind that this shoe size runs narrower than some other climbing brands and that the upper may stretch slightly over time.

Bought these because they were just so comfortable. Mine are just the right size not too small like most people recommend. I'm able to walk around in them comfortably for the couple of hours I'm at the gym because of the cutout in the sole yet when climbing they hold to some very small footholds. I've been very pleased.

The Katanas fit me perfectly. As with all climbing shoes you have to try them first. My husband simply hates them so it's really a personnal opinion. The edge and smear very well. The sole wont last as long as C4 but comfort comes first when it comes to climbing especially when you do long multi-pitch routes like I do.

One of the most comfortable fit I know of. The heel does not slip. After a while the velcro gets old but that's the problem with all velcro shoes...

I've had many pairs of Katanas over the years and they are still hard to beat. From steep pockets to cracks to friction slabs the Katanas cut deep into any rock. The fit is comfortable the lining and building materials stretch very little and the vibram XSV rubber is reliable and durable. I appreciate the opposing velcro system to get a nice snug fit. Expect the stretch to be less than a half size in 6 months of regular use. Go for it... you won't be disappointed. Don't hesitate to contact me for more information.

I have owned a number of different shoes and find the variation in fit to be the most important. In general I have found the Sportiva shoes fit me best (over 5.10 and Boriel). Now I have the choice for my next shoe. 3rd pair of katanas or try a "solution" As others mentioned delamination in the toe seems to be the weak link. But they fair well enough for me to buy them again
