Above the impact-absorbing Air Cushion® midsole is a contoured 4.5-mm. anatomical footbed backed by a supportive nylon 6.6 injection molded arch shank and a female-specific Q-Form™ triple density compression molded EVA frame. This is a great shoe for damp trail conditions but if you require something for arid adventures Merrell's Chameleon II Ventilator might be all the shoe you'll ever need on a day hike.

I bought these for hiking varying terrains. Thought there would be a break in period-but there wasn't. Comfortable and true to size.

The shoes were comfortable on the first day I wore them for a two-mile walk. They did not need to be broken in. They are most comfortable when worn with a crew sock; the shorter socks that fall below my ankle cause it to rub uncomfortably.

Having a wide foot I was concerned as to whether these shoes would fit comfortably and they did! They are flexible and comfortable even after wearing all day. I would not hestitate to purchase another pair.

Great shoes. I bought these primarily for walking and going up and down hills. No slipping comfortable from day one. However as with any shoe not for icy conditions.
