Although it will darken leather slightly it will remove dirt and other grime from the trail. Not a good for things that have a greasy residue.

This product is great for getting you shoes prepped to apply the nikwax waterproofing. I have been using both on the same boots now for over 3 years and my leather boots are still waterproof despite heavy usage.

I used the cleanning gel to clean my Merrell Switchback Gortex hiking boots I just bought ($150). Well it changed the leather from light brown to dark brown. I kind of like the dark color. Just be aware of the color change. I do not think it does too much good to use the gel to clean. I think Nikwax Aqueous Wax is good enough. You can just clean the boots with clean water and apply the wax.

Could not be any more happier with a product. My motocross boots had 6 month old mud on them. They cleaned up perfect. thanks for the tech help on product usage.
