Nice to have along just in case a storm hits in the middle of your extended backpacking trip.
At only 4.5 ounces the Osprey UL Raincover (Large) takes up very little space in your backpack yet comes up big when bad weather strikes. Taking a few moments to place this fully seam taped fly on your pack when the first drops fall is much better than spending a whole day post-storm spreading your gear out on rocks waiting for everything to dry out. On cold clear nights the UL Raincover (Large) also does a great job of keeping dew and frost off your backpack.

We bought four Osprey Atmos packs from Altrec. The Osprey covers are the best choice for the pack (IMO) and have a mid cover snap which goes around the entire pack which helps keep the cover in place better than other covers.

This pack cover works great. It does the job by keeping the rain out. Suggestion; buy the next size down. They run very big. My son's small fits my large pack just fine even when full!

Just make sure to match the cover by your pack's liter size. I bought a large cover for a large pack which was way too big.
