Breathable and close fitting. Smooth surface to shed light debris. Just add a shell(such as the Outdoor Reasearch Snowline)when it becomes windy and colder. Works well for me.

It's difficult to believe how such a thin flexible material can be so windproof warm and comfortable. I have used the glove paddling in 50 degree temperatures cross-country skiing in just below freezing temps and cycling in the 40's. My hands have never been sweaty and the grippy material is excellent-- no slipping on the paddle shaft good feeling for the shift levers on the bike. I usually need XXL gloves to fit my unusually large thumbs comfortably and will use some from Pearl Izumi when it's in the low 20's for skiing or on the bike in the 30's due to wind chill but the stretchy material makes the XL just fine for me. Glove fit has been a long time problem for me but not anymore. I definitely plan to buy more of these in the future. I am noticing some early wear on the finger tips so it's difficult to judge how well these will hold up over time just yet; I've probably used them 30 times since I bought them. I tried on a pair of the 300 weight OR gloves and they are very stretchy and comfortable too but do not have the gripper on the palm and I do not know how windproof they would be.

Bought this glove to use while taking photographs up on the mountain. Thin enough for the mobility I need and warm enough to keep my digits from freezing. Just what I hoped for.
