Amazingly, at a mere 11 ounces there is still plenty of performance beefiness, so you won't spin out. An anti-debris durable mesh upper is Sensifit wrapped in synthetic overlays to give a precise and secure fit. A Quicklace one pull lace system quickly customizes the closure, as the quick cinch tab tucks out of the way in its garage pocket. The dual density EVA midsole targets stabilization of the foot against stone or root roll over. The aggressive multi-density winter Contragrip outsole remains pliable and gripping even in cold conditions, to give you optimum traction as you blast over Tioga Pass. With a mudguard and protective toe bumper your feet are covered in the event they ever come back to earth.

Great trail runners
I only buy Salomon shoes for trail running; I have probably bought a dozen pairs in the last decade. These are light and tight-fitting, both good qualities. Like some of the other reviewers, I am not enthusiastic about the soft compound on the outside of the heels. It hasn't caused any problems, but feels like it might, and who needs extra worries. The shoes are warm, and they shed water. The speed lacing system is one reason I buy Salomons. And they look good. So far, I love the shoes.

A ninja could not ask for a better shoe!
Ok if your idea of trail running is on maintained trails then this is not the shoe for you. Salomon makes many shoes for this kinda running. If your idea of trail running is a sort of suicidal nature, look no further. This shoe will give you the kind of grip you will need for flying down switchbacks with boulders and rocks as you go. Get your size if you don't want the shoe ripped from your foot. It is made to fit snug so you don't lose it! As you run up trails the shoe yell's at you, "Faster Fatty!" making you feel like less of a man and out of shape. As you fly down trails at high speeds, eyes tearing up from the wind, useing all your senses to keep you from tripping off the next switchback, and in a quick moment of airborne silence the shoes wisper...........faster.......

Really the near perfect trail shoe.
Super light, near perfect traction, extremely comfortable for my narrow high arch size 11.5 foot. Laces are great and fast. Only down side is if you repeatedly forget to tuck the laces in because you are in a hurry you will ruin them. Replacing them is a chore. This is my second pair of the shoes.
