The North Face Men's Meridian Convertible Pant The North Face: Men's Meridian Convertible Pant

Comfortable convertible hiking and travel pants with an internal drawstring and elastic waist.

Excellent for hiking climbing backpacking and adventure traveling through transitional weather The North Face Meridian Convertible Pant features water-resistant DWR for liquid sunshine and a Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) rating of 30+ for the real thing. This weather versatility makes The North Face Meridian Convertible Pant an excellent choice for extended summer trips where climate changes vary significantly. Unlike the web-belted versions of The North Face unfitted Paramount shorts and pants the Meridian Convertible Pant features an internal drawcord with a 3/4-length elastic waist for more sizing options and a little less pack weight. Long-haul backpackers appreciate this adaptable sizing feature when they're burning thrice the daily calories that they eat in the backcountry (and it's worse if the cook is bad). Travel-savvy features include a hidden internal security pocket and a practical 9-in. short inseam that won't have the kids laughing and pointing at you when you visit their village (although sometimes that's inevitable no matter what you wear).

A good hiking pant Image: 4 Stars

I wore these on a long loop hike in central CO. They endured rain river fordings various types of scrambling etc. and seemed none the worse for wear. Mostly comfortable for me I found it best to hike up the waist to give better range of movement in the crotch. Should also work fine as dual use travelling pant.

The North Face Meridian Convertible pant is by far the best pant for the money on the market. The overall fit the sizes available and the colors are simple the best. One of the features I am most pleased with are the deep pockets that are great for passports hiking gear and just about anything else while you're on the go. They are easy to care for travel well and are great for packing. I think they're the best buy on the market!

Great lightweight pants. Image: 5 Stars

The fabric is lightweight and breathable. As has already been mentioned new taupe is actually olive (a nice dark olive though). The pants are accurately sized. There are lots of useful pockets including an internal secure pocket for passports and the like. When converted to shorts the shorts have a nice long inseam and when used as pants you can roll up the legs several inches and secure them with a tab and button. The only thing lacking: there are no zippers on the bottom of the legs so that you can remove them without taking off your shoes.

Comfortable fabric. Shorts are a good length. Only two belt loops in back to hold unzipped pant legs. Can't use with an actual belt. Overall a nice pair of hiking pants.
